More than 25 years ago, the Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer from a single youth group:
“Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those without a bowl of soup to eat.”
Each year, much is made of the upcoming Super Bowl football game, which takes place today, February 4. The young people of St. Edmond Religious Education Program want to use this energy to mobilize and care for people in our community who may be hungry or in need.
This weekend, February 3 & 4, young people from our parish will be standing at the entrances of church before Mass to collect your donation of cans of soup and food pantry items, as well as accepting monetary donations. All these items will be given to St. Edmond’s St. Vincent De Paul Society for use with their outreach to the poor right here in our area.
Because of the recent Hall renovation, our parish food pantry is completely empty. From your generosity, we need any and all items that will help feed the poor in our community.
Once again, we will TACKLE HUNGER and make a real difference in our community working together, one by one. Thank you for your help!
