Deacon Pete Nellius
Deacon Weston E. “Pete” Nellius was born and baptized in south Philadelphia and entered the Air Force in 1954, where he met and married his first wife. He subsequently graduated from Sam Houston State University and completed course work for a doctorate in economics at Southern Illinois University and went on to complete the advanced management program at Harvard Business School. After 39 years of marriage, Pete’s first wife died of cancer. He subsequently married Lynn (Harford) Nellius. Pete and Lynn came to St. Edmond from Holy Cross Church in Dover where they were both been involved in parish ministries. Pete was a Holy Cross parishioner for over 35 years and was ordained as a permanent deacon in 2001.
No stranger to Rehoboth Beach, Pete has spent summers in Rehoboth since 1981. He has held numerous jobs in state government and in the financial services industry before entering full time ministry, which included a staff position at Holy Cross. After retiring from his staff position, Pete requested and received a transfer of his diaconal ministry to St Edmond Parish where he and Lynn are involved in ministry. Pete is also an advocate with the marriage tribunal of the diocese of Wilmington.
