On Super Bowl weekend, February 2 & 3, 2019 youths and adults from St. Edmond's Religious Education program braved the chilly days to collect money and canned goods for the Souper Bowl of Caring. A youth-inspired movement, Souper Bowl of Caring has always supported the idea of young people leading the charge. The Souper Bowl of Caring began in 1990 when 22 churches in the Columbia, SC area collected $5,700. So far in 2019 over 1,100 groups around the country have collected over 5.5 million in cash and food items. The more than 950 canned food donations and almost $2,050 collected here at St. Edmond were given to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
