Interested in Becoming Catholic?
Join Us for an OCIA Open House
For many years, those seeking to become Catholic or complete their sacraments were invited to join RCIA – the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. As of November 2021, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has updated the name to OCIA – the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults.
This change better reflects the original Latin term Ordo and emphasizes that becoming Catholic is a journey, marked by several important rites: the Rites of Acceptance, Welcoming, Sending, Election, and Initiation.
The OCIA process welcomes:
Catechumens – those who have not been baptized,
and
Candidates – those already baptized in the Catholic Church or in most Protestant communities.
All are guided toward full communion with the Catholic Church. We invite you to learn more at our Open House: Room 1, Education Building September 22 7:00 p.m. Come with your questions and curiosity —all are welcome!
